BÅRD BREIVIK. HISTORY

A retrospective exhibition including new works.

Bård Breivik (b. 1948 in Bergen) has an undisputed position in Norwegian and Scandinavian art. He made a name for himself early on in the new and expanded sphere of sculpture, with works in which the conceptual element and craftsmanship were tightly bound together. Breivik has described his art as commentaries on history on several different levels. The works are narratives of his travels, his experiences and of his own time. Yet they can also appear as museum archives, with a temporal perspective that ranges from prehistoric time to far into the future. The exhibition Bård Breivik. History follows the long lines of his artistic career, with themes that include the contrasts between craftsmanship and technology, nature and civilisation, archetypes and utopias.
